Selinsgrove, PA (November 8, 2025) - The DeSales University women's basketball team opened the 2025-26 season with a near upset of #24 Gettysburg College, falling 63-60, on day one of the Susquehanna University Tip-off Tournament.

- This was the first-ever meeting between DeSales and Gettysburg.
How it Happened
- DeSales was in control of this one from the very beginning scoring the first six points of the game with senior Lindsay Bednarek tossing in two of the first three buckets.
- The lead grew to as much as nine (13-4) and remained nine (16-7) after one quarter of play.
- A 3 from senior Mikaili Donmoyer and a lay-up from first-year Keara McCaffrey put DSU up 12 early in the second quarter.
- The Bullets started to chip away at the margin getting within seven points several times, including at the half, with DSU holding a 28-21 lead.
- Gettysburg tied the game at 34 midway thru the third quarter before a three from Donmoyer on the next possession put DeSales back on top and the Bulldogs led by three (44-41) after three quarters of play.
- The Bullets took their first lead at the 7:29 mark of the fourth quarter as the two teams traded baskets over the next few possessions.
- With the scored tied at 50, Gettysburg scored eight straight to take a 58-50 lead with 4:14 remaining.
- A jumper from sophomore Aubrey Pollard and a three from senior Julia Kowalski got the Bulldogs back within 3 with 3:03 left.
- Pollard scored again with 46 seconds left to get DeSales back within three points but the Bullets got a bucket as the shot clock was winding down with 23 ticks left.
- Kowalski nailed another triple with four seconds left but time ran after one free throw from the Bullets on a tying possession.

- Bednarek led DeSales with 17 points, hitting 7-for-9 from the charity stripe.
- Donmoyer added 15 points.
For the Foes
- Gettysburg had two players in double digits including Reagan Chrencik with 17 points and Amanda Rapel with 14, both off the bench.

- DeSales forced 22 Bullet turnovers, leading to 16 points.
- GBurg was 7-for-14 from outside the arc.
