Marissa LaVerghetta was just two assists shy of a triple-double leading the DeSales University women's basketball team past Mary Washington, 81-59, in the consolation game of the Susquehanna University Tip-off Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

- This was a rematch of these two teams meeting in the NCAA Tournament in 2023 as the Bulldogs avenge that loss and even the all-time series at one win each.
How it Happened
- The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair that saw neither team lead by more than three and tied at 16 after the first 10 minutes of play.
- A three from senior Mackenzie Gordos gave DSU a three-point lead to start the second quarter and the Bulldogs never trailed the rest of the game, leading by as many as eight points in the quarter and by seven (37-30) at the halftime break.
- The Bulldogs used an 11-1 run to start the second-half, taking a 17-point lead (48-31), as senior Sammi White scored four of the 11 points during the spurt.
- Mary Washington cut the margin down to 12 points twice, including 62-50 after three quarters of play.
- It was a nine point game early in the fourth quarter when senior Mikaili Donmoyer and senior Emma Pyne hit back-to-back 3's igniting an 8-0 run that put the Bulldogs up 70-53 with 6:52 left and DSU never looked back after that.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Bednarek scored her career 30 on 11-of-16 shooting from the field and 8-for-11 from the free throw line besting her previous career-high of 22 points last season.
- LaVerghetta was just two assists shy of the program's first-ever triple-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists, adding five steals.
- Sophomore Aubrey Pollard had 11 points and seven rebounds.
- White and Donmoyer each had eight points and White added four blocked shots.
For the Foes
- Maddy Jenisch led the Eagles with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.
- Machenzie Wharton added 12 points off the bench.
Inside the Box Score
- DeSales dominated the paint, out-scoring UMW, 50-18, in the lane.
- The Bulldogs also had a 29-6 advantage in fast break points.
- DSU forced 19 Eagle miscues leading to 24 points.
