Comeback Falls Short in Men's Basketball 65-59 Loss to Arcadia

Center Valley, PA (February 1, 2025) - The DeSales University men's basketball team shot just 33.3 percent from the field and saw a late comeback fall short in a 65-59 loss to Arcadia University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

  • AU sweeps the season series but DeSales still holds a 21-12 lead in the all-time series.
How it Happened
  • Arcadia jumped all over the Bulldogs early scoring the first 10 points of the game over the first three minutes.
  • The Bulldogs calmed things down chipping away and out-scoring the Knights, 19-6 over the next 10 minutes to claim a three-point advantage.
  • It went back-and-forth for the rest of the half with AU taking a 29-26 lead into the halftime locker room.
  • The Knights had another quick start in the second-half extending its lead to 11 points with an 11-3 run over the first 4:10 of the half.
  • The lead peaked at 14 points before the Bulldogs started to peck away at the lead.
  • DSU got within seven before AU pushed it back up to 13 points and a three from senior Matt Ciszkowski made it a six-point game with 5:29 to go.
  • Another three from Ciszkowski made it a four-point game at the 3:27 mark but Arcadia answered with a triple on the other end making it a seven-point game.
  • The Bulldogs then went scoreless over the next 2:50 before a layup from first-year Jayden Thomas pulled DSU within five with 38 ticks remaining.
  • Another Thomas layup with eight seconds left made it a three-point game before Arcadia iced the win from the line.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Senior Caleb Gibbs led the Bulldogs with 12 points, but had just two in the second-half.
  • Senior Devin Atkinson had his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
For the Foes
  • Jamison Lynam led the Knights with 17 points and handed out seven assists.
  • Joshua Okocha had 15 points and Josh Parks reached double digits with 11 tallies.
Inside the Box Score
  • DSU shot a season-low 33.3 percent from the field, while the Knights hit 45.1 percent from the field.
  • DeSales had a 40-32 edge on the glass.
