Women's Lacrosse Records First-Ever Shutout Win in Feat over Wilson College

Center Valley, PA (February 22, 2025) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team recorded its first-ever shutout win in program history in a 22-0 win over Wilson College in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 22, Wilson - 0
  • Records: DeSales (2-0 overall); Wilson (0-2 overall)
  • This marked the first all-time meeting between the two programs. 
  • DSU records first-ever shutout win.
  • DeSales breaks the record for most points a game with 39, surpassing the previous mark of 37, recording 22 goals and 17 assists. 
  • The Bulldogs tied the team record for most assists in a game with 17. 
  • DSU scored the third most goals in a game in team history with 22. 
How it Happened
  • DSU came out blazing hot scoring eight first period goals from six different players, with senior Jess Brey and junior Emma Williamson leading the way with two goals each. Junior Christina DiGuglielmo led the Bulldogs with three first period assists.
  • DSU would tack on six more goals in the second period that was led by junior Hailey Linebaugh scoring three times in the period to take a 14-0 lead into the intermission.
  • Four goals in the third period and four more goals in the fourth period saw the lead swell up to 22 and the Bulldogs never looked back from there as their defense was in lockdown mode to notch the shutout win.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Eight different Bulldogs scored in the win. 
  • Four players recorded five or more points in this win including Linebaugh (4g, 4a) and DiGuglielmo (3g, 5a) with a team-high eight points.
  • DiGuglielmo had the fourth most assists in a game in program history.
  • Brey led DSU with five goals and tallied an assist for six points, while also winning a team-high six draw controls. 
  • Williamson scored two goals and tallied three assists for five points. She also tied the team record with nine ground balls in the game and caused the second most turnovers (6) in a game. 
  • Junior Bridey Lawler scored three goals, senior Meagan Landers and junior Sara Forchelli each scored two goals, and sophomore Sophia Campola scored one goal.
  • Landers, Campola, junior Danielle Sieja, and first-year Cami Beetel tallied assists in the win. 
  • Senior Michaela Regan and junior Nicole Minelli combined for two saves in the shutout win. 
For the Foes
  • Kaelyn Goff made four saves for the Phoenix in the loss. 
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales out-shot Wilson, 35-5, and had a 24-7 edge in ground balls.
  • DSU was 8-for-11 in clear attempts.
  • The Bulldogs won 16-of-25 draw controls.
