Softball Splits Two Games on Day Two of Spring Trip

Kissimmee, FL (March 10, 2025) - The DeSales University softball split two games on day two of its spring break trip to Florida taking game one, 12-3, over Otterbein University, before falling to Utica College, 12-4.

Game One (W/12-3)
DSU fell behind 1-0 in the top of the second but quickly took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run from sophomore Meghan Sabo.

The Bulldogs added three more runs in the third inning to claim a 5-1 lead after a two-RBI single from senior Tori Kenney and an RBI single from Sabo.

Leading 5-2, DeSales scored three times in the fifth on another RBI single from Sabo and two-RBI single from senior Madison Kelly.  The Bulldogs closed out the win with four runs in the bottom of the sixth on two-RBI singles from juniors Ava Goodman and Shana Gugliandolo.

Kenney finished the game 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Sabo was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Gugliandolo finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.  FIrst-year Katie Sharkey and Kelly each had two hits.

Senior Rachel Lowry earned the win tossing a complete-game allowing three runs and striking out two.

Game Two (L/4-12)
DeSales fell behind 4-0 after two innings but tied the game at four after a three-run home run from Kinney in the top of the third inning.

Utica re-claimed the lead with two unearned runs in the bottom of the third inning and added three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to post the final tally.

Junior Riley Long suffered the loss allowing three earned over 1 2/3 innings pitched.

First-year Gianna Angermeier and Sharkey each had two hits in the loss.

The Bulldogs are off tomorrow and return to action on Wednesday taking on PSU-Berks and Wheaton College (MA).
