Softball Splits Two Games on Day Three of Spring Break Trip

Kissimmee, FL (March 12, 2025) - The DeSales University softball split two games on day three of its spring break trip to Florida taking game one, 3-0, over Penn State Berks, before falling to Wheaton College (MA), .

Game One (W/3-0)
DSU took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a sac-fly from first-year Kylie Llewellyn that scored junior Melissa Hickey

The Bulldogs added two more runs in the fifth inning to push the lead up to 3-0 after first-year Katie Sharkey stole third and the catcher committed an error that resulted in Sharkey scoring. Then two batters later junior Shana Gugliandolo doubled into center to score senior Tori Kenney

Senior Rachel Lowry was the story this one as she tossed a complete-game shutout win allowing seven hits while punching out 10 hitters.

Kenney finished 3-for-3 with one run scored. Junior Ava Goodman also had three hits in the win.

Game Two (L/0-7)
A fielding error by the Bulldogs with two outs in the third inning allowed the Lions to string together six unearned runs as DSU trailed 6-0 through three innings of play.

DSU weren't able to get anything going on offense as Wheaton added more in the sixth inning and never looked back from there to post the 7-0 final tally.

Senior Tabitha Lawless suffered the loss allowing five unearned runs over 2 2/3 innings pitched. First-year Ava DiDonato had a solid outing in relief pitching two innings allowing just one earned run off one hit.
