Softball Drops Two in Final Day of Spring Break Trip in Florida

Kissimmee, FL (March 13, 2025) - The DeSales University softball drops their final two games on the final day of its spring break trip to Florida falling, 5-4, to Meredith College, before dropping the second game to Loras College, 11-2.

Game One (L/4-5)
Meredith took the early lead on an RBI single in the top of the first before DSU answered in the bottom half of the frame when first-year Gianna Angermeier scored on a wild pitch to the tie game.

Meredith retook the lead in the fourth inning off two RBI singles to go up 3-1. The Bulldogs did answer once more in the bottom half as they strung together three runs take back the lead at 4-3. First-year Kylie Llewellyn had an RBI single to left field as part of the three-run frame as the tying and go-ahead runs later came across due to a fielding error from the Meredith defense.

A costly fielding error by the Bulldogs in the seventh inning saw Meredith tie and score the go-ahead run on the same play to take a 5-4 lead and the final tally as DSU was not able to put together another rally.

Senior Rachel Lowry tossed complete-game and was charged with the loss allowing eight hits and three earned runs while striking out five.

Angermeier finished 3-for-4 with one run scored.

Game Two (L/2-11)
DSU fell behind early as Loras put up five runs off five hits in the first inning to lead 5-0.

Four more runs in the bottom of the second inning from Loras swelled the lead to 9-0.

DSU was able to put together two runs in this one, one run in the fourth and one in the fifth, but Loras held its ground as they won by nine in five innings.

Junior Jodee Domey went 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored. Sophomore Kiara Castera also went 2-for-2 and one RBI.

Senior Tabitha Lawless suffered the loss allowing four runs in 1/3 innings pitched. First-year Ava DiDonato had a solid outing in relief pitching two and 2/3 innings allowing two unearned runs while scattering three hits.

The Bulldogs head home from spring break and are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Kean University for a doubleheader with game one set to begin at 3:00 pm.
