Virginia Beach, VA (March 12, 2025) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team set a new school record extending its winning streak to six straight in a win over Marietta College, 17-7, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

- Junior Christina DiGuglielmo broke and set a new school record for career assists in program history with a five assist performance today.
- This marks the first time in team history DeSales has opened a season with six straight wins and it's also the longest winning streak in program history.
How it Happened
- It took DeSales just under two minutes to strike first in this as a centering feed from DiGuglielmo connected with senior Jess Brey to put the Bulldogs up 1-0 early.
- Marietta responded with 10:38 left in the first quarter on a game-tying goal from Sophi Merickel.
- DSU connected together a string of three straight goals late in the quarter to retake the lead at 4-1. DiGuglielmo led the Bulldogs with two goals and one assist (record tying) during the run. Marietta got one back right before the horn to cut the lead down to 4-2 at the end of the first quarter.
- An evenly matched second quarter saw both teams trade goals to start the quarter but DeSales had the upper hand outscoring Marietta 3-2 to take a 7-4 lead into the halftime break. Brey scored two of the three Bulldog goals in the quarter.
- DiGuglielmo's record breaking assist came on DSU's first goal out of the break when she found sophomore Sophia Campola to put DeSales up 8-4.
- DSU scored three more in the third quarter and the lead swelled up to 11-5 heading into the final quarter of play.
- DeSales scored six more goals in the fourth quarter as the lead never fell below six the rest of the way and pushed up to 10 as DSU posted the 17-7 final tally.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Brey led the scoring attack with four goals and one assist while winning four draw controls.
- DiGuglielmo led DSU with five assists which now gives her a school record 63 career assists. She also scored two goals and picked up two ground balls.
- Senior Meagan Landers, Juniors Hailey Linebaugh, Danielle Sieja, and Bridey Lawler, along with Campola each scored two goals in the win.
- Landers also won a team-high seven draw controls.
- Linebaugh tallied three assists while Sieja and Campola each tallied one.
- Junior Emma Williamson scored one goal.
- Senior Michaela Regan made eight saves and recorded her sixth win of the season.
For the Foes
- Sophi Merickel led Marietta with five goals in the loss.
Inside the Box Score
- DeSales out-shot MC, 39-22, and had a 19-11 edge in ground balls.
- DSU won 15-of-26 draw controls and was 15-of-16 on clears.
