Jacksonville, FL (March 14, 2025) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team scored a season-high 18 goals earning its first win of the season, 18-15, over Oneonta in the second game of its spring break trip to Jacksonville, FL on Friday morning.
The Basics

How it Happened
- Oneonta led 3-2 after one quarter of play after the teams traded goals over the first 15 minutes.
- DeSales dominated the second quarter out-scoring Oneonta, 7-1, to open up a 9-4 lead into the half.
- The Bulldogs scored the first two goals of the third quarter to lead 11-4 before the Red Dragons scored four straight to cut the margin down to three (11-8).
- First-year Matt Costigan quieted the rally with a goal but Oneonta kept the spurt going scoring four straight for a second time tying the game at 12 90 seconds into the fourth quarter.
- Senior Pat Schuett ignited a four goal rally by the Bulldogs that put DSU up 16-12 with 9:14 left to play.
- Oneonta scored two straight to get back within two goals but a goal from junior Jake Hurd and another from Schuett made it 18-14, icing away the win.
Top Bulldog Performers
- First-year Jason Reilly led the scoring attack with six goals.
- Schuett had seven points with four goals and three assists.
- Costigan fiinished with two goals and one assist and Hurd had two goals and two assists.
- Senior Nate Perry added four assists.
- Senior Anthony Gash scored one goal and had one assist while also winning 17-of-27 faceoffs and picking up 10 ground balls.
- Senior Hunter Waldron had nine saves in between the pipes.
For the Foes
- Jamie O'Neil totaled three goals and five assists.
- Thomas Hnis added three goals and an assist.
Inside the Box Score
- DeSales out-shot Oneonta, 56-36, and had a 44-27 advantage in ground balls.
- The Bulldogs won 19-of-37 faceoffs and had just 15 turnovers.
- DSU was excellent on the clear (19-for-20).
