Kerr's Go-Ahead Three-Run Home Run Leads Baseball to 7-6 Win over Swarthmore

Swarthmore, PA (March 19, 2025) – Graduate student Travis Kerr hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the sixth inning giving DeSales baseball a 7-6 win over Swarthmore College in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Graduate student Gavin Zavorski put the Bulldogs on the board first with a three-run home run to give DSU a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
 
DeSales pushed the lead up to 4-0 in the fourth inning on an RBI single from junior Shane Anhalt that scored senior Owen Fischl.
 
The Garnets cut the deficit by scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth and tied the game up at 4-4 by scoring two more in the fifth inning. Swarthmore didn't stop there as they scored two more again in the sixth inning to take the 6-4 lead. Four of the six Swarthmore runs were unearned.
 
Kerr responded for DSU in the top of the sixth inning with another Bulldog three-run home run to retake the lead (7-6).
 
Senior Ashton Johnson came out of the bullpen in the eighth inning and shut the door pitching two scoreless innings and tallying the save to give the Bulldogs the win.
 
Senior Alex Chase recorded the win for DSU pitching one inning allowing just one hit and two unearned runs.

Kerr finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Zavorski finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and one run scored. Junior JT Anderosky and sophomore Ty Akins also each had two hits in the win.

DSU is scheduled to return to action on Friday when they travel to Lebanon Valley College in game one of its MAC Freedom three-game series at 3:30 pm.
