Softball Drops Two on Day One of Spring Break Trip

Kissimmee, FL (March 9, 2025) - The DeSales University softball team dropped its first two games of its spring break trip in Florida falling to Catholic University, 6-1, and Ursinus College, 3-1, on Sunday morning.

Game One (L/1-6 vs. Catholic)
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when sophomore Paige Hromin scored on an error after being hit by a pitch and stealing second base.

That lead stood into the third inning when Catholic scored six two-out runs to take a 6-1 lead and that score stood the rest of the way.

Senior Rachel Lowry suffered the loss allowing four earned over 2 2/3 innings pitched.  Junior Shana Gugliandolo had two of DSU's four hits.

Game Two (L/1-3 vs. Ursinus)
A scoreless game into the fourth inning saw the Bears score once in the fourth and fifth to take a 2-0 lead.

DeSales got a run back in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI double from senior Tori Kenney but Ursinus added one more run in the seventh and the Bulldogs were unable to push anymore runs across.

Senior Tabitha Lawless tossed 4 1/3 strong innings allowing just one earned, suffering the loss.  Kenney finished the game 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk.

DeSales is back in action tomorrow taking on Utica and Otterbein.
