Hoboken, NJ (April 11, 2025) - The DeSales University baseball team dropped game one of the three-game weekend set with Stevens, 8-7, in 10 innings on a cold and rainy Friday afternoon at Dobbelaar Field.
Both teams scored three runs in the second inning before the Ducks scored twice in the fifth to lead 5-3.
The Bulldogs got one of those two runs back in the seventh on a bases loaded walk and rallied in the top of the ninth with three runs to take a 7-5 lead. Senior 
Gavin Zavorski had an RBI singe, sophomore 
Jeremy Stranix was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game, and sophomore 
Ty Akins put DSU ahead with a sacrifice fly.
Stevens rallied itself in the bottom of the inning, scoring twice to tie the game and send it into extra innings.
After DSU went quietly in the top of the 10th, the Ducks got a two-out double with a runner on first to win the game.
Junior 
Mike Hooker pitched well going six innings allowing three earned and striking out six.
Graduate student 
Travis Kerr, first-year 
Jacob Rivera, and senior 
Colin Houck all had two hits in the loss.
Games two and three are scheduled for Sunday afternoon beginning at 3:00 pm at Weiland Park.
