Men's Lacrosse Clinches Postseason Spot with 9-6 Win over Misericordia

Center Valley, PA (April 23, 2025) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team clinched a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament with a 9-6 win over Misericordia University in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 9, Misericordia - 6
  • Records: DeSales (8-8; 5-1 MAC Freedom); Misericordia (7-8; 3-3 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs win their fourth straight over the Cougars improving to 12-10 all-time in the series.
  • This is DSU's 12th appearance in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament and the sixth straight season DSU has qualfied.
  • DeSales can earn the #2 seed and a semifinal home playoff game with a win on Saturday when they host Arcadia University, with winner earning the #2 seed.
How it Happened
  • After MU scored the game's first goal, DSU scored four straight to take a 4-1 lead first quarter lead.
  • The lead remained three till the Cougars scored with a minute left in the half to get within two (5-3) at the break.
  • Misericordia scored first to start the third quarter to get within a goal, but the Bulldogs answered with two goals in the span of 10 seconds to reclaim a three goal lead (7-4) after three quarters of play.
  • The Cougars wouldn't go away scoring the first two goals of the fourth quarter to get back within a goal at the 5:38 mark.
  • DSU responded again as sophomore Seth Young scored as the shot clock was winding down at the 4:17 mark to push the lead back to two and the Bulldogs added one more goal late to post the final tally. 
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Senior Nate Perry led the scoring with two goals and two assists.
  • First-year Jason Reilly scored twice.
  • Junior Jake Hurd and senior Pat Schuett each had a goal and assist in the win.
  • Senior Braden Eastman had five caused turnovers and four ground balls.
  • Graduate student Chase Bowman had four caused turnovers and five ground balls.
  • Senior Anthony Gash won 10-of-17 faceoffs and had 10 ground balls.
For the Foes
  • Jared Pellicciione had two goals to lead the Cougars.
  • Ty Murawski finished with a goal and two assists.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales dominated the stat sheet out-shooting MU, 53-18.
