Second-Half Comeback Falls Short in 12-10 Loss to Arcadia

Center Valley, PA (April 26, 2025) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team saw a furious second-half comeback fall short in a 12-10 loss to Arcadia University in the MAC Freedom regular season finale.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Arcadia - 12, DeSales - 10
  • Records: DeSales (8-9; 5-2 MAC Freedom); Arcadia (12-5; 6-1 MAC Freedom)
  • The loss drops DeSales down to the #3 seed in next week's MAC Freedom postseason tournament setting up a rematch between these two teams on Wednesday at Arcadia beginning at 7:00 pm.
  • The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Bulldogs in the series as DSU falls to 9-4 all-time vs. Arcadia.
  • It will be the fourth straight season these two teams meet in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament.
How it Happened
  • First-year Jason Reilly got the scoring started with the first goal of the game.
  • Arcadia dominated the first-half from that point forward scoring eight straight goals, taking an 8-1 lead early in the second quarter.
  • The lead swelled to 10-2 at the halftime break.
  • Junior Mark Winkler Jr. opened the scoring in the second-half before the Knights scored two straight to take its largest lead, 12-3, with nine minutes left in the third quarter.
  • DSU scored three straight to end the quarter cutting the margin down to six goals (12-6).
  • The Bulldogs comeback continued into the fourth quarter as DeSales got within two, after two goals within a span of 19 seconds and 2:25 remaining.
  • DSU was unable to get any closer than that as the Knights held on for the road win.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Winkler Jr. led the scoring with three goals and two assists.
  • Junior Jake Hurd added three goals and one assist and Reilly had two goals.
  • Junior Taylor Wikert caused four turnovers and picked up six ground balls.
  • Senior Hunter Waldron totaled 13 saves in between the pipes.
For the Foes
  • Dylan Garber totaled five goals and one assist to lead the Knights.
  • Andrew Borum and Reilly Robichaud each added two goals.

  • DeSales had a slim 39-35 advantage in shots.
