Center Valley, PA (April 25, 2025) - The DeSales University baseball team opened up the three-game weekend set vs. King's College with a 13-6 win at Weiland Park on Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs were eliminated from the MAC Freedom postseason race despite the win as both Arcadia and Misericordia won on Friday afternoon.
DSU took a 1-0 lead in the third inning and made it a 4-0 game in the fourth on an RBI double from seniorÂ
Colin Houck and two RBI double from sophomoreÂ
Ty Akins.
After King's got two runs back in the fifth, DSU got three more in the bottom half of the inning on a wild pitch and two-run home run from graduate studentÂ
Travis Kerr.
The Monarchs got three runs in the eighth to make it a three-run game but DSU equaled the King's rally with four runs of its own in the bottom of the eighth to provide the final tally.
Graduate student
Gavin Zavorski was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, Houck had three hits, and Kerr had three hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Akins also drove in three runs.
JuniorÂ
Mike Hooker earned the win with seven strong innings, striking out nine.
The Bulldogs wrap-up the series with games two and three tomorrow at King's beginning at 1:00 pm.
