Wilkes-Barre, PA (April 27, 2025) - Senior
Frank Parrotti fired a six-hit shutout leading the DeSales University baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of King's College in MAC Freedom action on Sunday afternoon.
Game One (W/6-0)
DeSales got off to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning on RBI singles from senior
Gavin Zavorski and junior
Shane Anhalt and an RBI groundout from senior
Justin DeStaso.
Senior
Colin Houck and Anhalt each had RBI singles in the top of the fifth and junior
Bobby Dingell had an RBI single in the sixth to make it 6-0.
Parrotti did the rest as scattered six hits over seven innings, striking out 10. He wiggled out of a bases loaded two-out jam in the sixth and only allowed three baserunners to reach second base all game.
Dingell had two hits, graduate student
Travis Kerr had two hits and two runs scored, Zavorski had three hits and two runs scored, Anhalt had two hits and two RBIs, and sophomore
Ty Akins had two hits.
Game Two (W/15-5)
DSU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI from Zavorski and led 4-1 after two innings as DeStaso had an RBI single and junior
John Rorick a two-RBI sacrifice bunt in the third inning.
Zavorski made it 7-1 with a three-run home run in the fourth inning and the Bulldogs broke it open with five runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Zavorski finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and five RBIs. Kerr had two hits and three runs scored and senior
Owen Fischl had two hits and two RBIs. Houck finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs, first-year
Jacob Rivera had two hits, Rorick finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and sophomore
Jack Sague was 3-for-5 with two runs scored.
First-year
Joe Ficoturo earned the win pitching six strong innings allowing just two earned.
DeSales wraps up the 2025 season on Wednesday hosting The University of Scranton beginning at 6:00 pm.
