Softball Drops Two vs. King's; Clinches #4 Seed in Postseason Tournament

Center Valley, PA (April 27, 2025) - The DeSales University softball team dropped both ends of a MAC Freedom doubleheader with King's College on Sunday afternoon at McGettigan Park.

Despite the two losses the Bulldogs still clinched a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament earning the #4 seed. The postseason tournament starts on Thursday and runs thru Saturday hosted by the top seed Lebanon Valley College. DSU will take on the top seed, LVC, at 3:30 pm on Thursday.

Game One (L/0-2 - 10 Innings)
Game one was a pitcher's dual as the game was scoreless into the 10th inning when King's was able to score twice and the Bulldogs were unable to answer in the bottom half of the inning.

Senior Rachel Lowry was fantastic in the circle for the Bulldogs scattering nine hits over 10 innings, allowing just one earned run, and striking out seven.

Offensively, DSU had just six hits, by six different players. DeSales' best chance at scoring came in the first inning when they had bases loaded with one out.

Game Two (L/4-9)
Sophomore Paige Hromin tied the game at one in the bottom of the first inning.

King's scored twice in the third, once in the fourth, and twice more in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead.

DSU got two runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead down to three runs, but the Monarchs answered with three tallies in the seventh and never looked back.

First-year Gianna Angermeier was 3-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the offense.
