Annville, PA (May 1, 2025) - The DeSales University softball team dropped the first game of the MAC Freedom postseason tournament falling to top seed, Lebanon Valley College, 4-2, on Thursday afternoon.
The fourth seeded Bulldogs fall into the loser's bracket and will look to stay alive in the double elimination tournament tomorrow at 1:30 pm taking on #2 seed Stevens at LVC.
DSU took a 1-0 lead vs. LVC as sophomoreÂ
Kiara Castera scored on an error by the Flying Dutchmen.
Lebanon Valley answered in the bottom of the first scoring three times on a three-run home run.
The Bulldogs got a run back in the top of the third when sophomoreÂ
Paige Hromin scored first-yearÂ
Katie Sharkey on a single.
DeSales had a prime opportunity to tie the game perhaps take the lead loading the bases with no one out in the fifth, but a ground out forcing out the runner at home and a bases loaded double play on the next pitch ended the threat.
LVC got another run in the fifth to take the 4-2 lead and DSU was unabe to rally over the final two frames.
SeniorÂ
Rachel Lowry suffered the loss allowing four runs over six innings, striking out one, leaving her one K shy of reaching 300 career K's.
Castera and Sharkey each had two hits to lead the Bulldog bats.
