Center Valley, PA (April 3, 2025) - Senior
Rachel Lowry recorded her 40th career win and the DeSales University softball team swept its first doubleheader of the season with two wins over Neumann University in non-conference action on Thursday evening.
Game One (W/11-0)
The Bulldogs made short work of the first game scoring seven runs in the first inning on eight hits to take a 7-0 lead and crossed home plate four more times in the fourth to post the 11-0 win. Senior
Tori Kenney hit a three-run home run in the fourth and six different players had RBIs in the seven-run first inning.
Senior
Rachel Lowry did the rest allowing just two hits over five innings, striking out four, not allowing a runner to touch second base. She becomes the third player in team history to win 40+ games in a career, improving to 7-3 on the season.
First-year
Gianna Angermeier had three hits and scored twice, sophomore
Kiara Castera was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, and Kenney finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Game Two (W/11-4)
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning, first-year
Katie Sharkey had an RBI single in the second to tie the game at one.
An RBI double from sophomore
Abigayle Freideman and RBI single from first-year
Kylie Llewellyn gave DSU a 3-1 lead in the third inning.
Leading 3-2 into the fifth, sophomore
Paige Hromin tripled and scored on a wild pitch and Freideman had her second RBI double of the game to give DSU a 5-2 lead. The Bulldogs then scored six times in the sixth as Freideman again led the way with a two-RBI single to post the final 11-4 score.
Junior
Riley Long earned her first win of the season in the circle pitching six strong allowing four runs.
Hromin finished the game 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Freideman was 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Sharkey had two hits and junior
Shana Gugliandolo finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they play host to FDU-Florham in a MAC Freedom doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
