Weston Simak and
Joey Wilson of the men's track & field and cross country teams were all named to the CSC Men's T&F/CC Academic All-District Team as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for this honor you must be a sophomore or higher, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater, and be ranked in the Top 50 in the region in a single individual event in either cross country or track & field. Each institution is allowed a maximum of five nominations for the team. The highest qualified candidates based on GPA and region ranking will have their nominations forwarded to the All-America ballot to be considered for Academic All-America honors announced in late-June.
All five Bulldog athletes each make their first career appearances on the Academic All-District Team.
Ricco, majoring in computer science, placed 24th at the MAC CC Championships to earn All-MAC Third-Team honors this past fall season.
Watson, a medical studies major, finished ranked 17th in the region for the javelin throw during the outdoor T&F season.
Skulski, a health sciences major, regionally ranked 26th in the javelin throw and 40th in the triple jump during outdoor T&F.
Simak, a double major in accounting and finance, regionally ranked 16th in the long jump and 22nd in the triple jump in outdoor T&F. During the indoor T&F season, he ranked 17th in the long jump and 15th in the triple jump.
Wilson, a sports management major, placed 10th at the MAC CC Championships to earn All-MAC First-Team honors this past fall season. He also earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors posting the fifth best time in the Metro region in the 5k.
