Men's Basketball Knocks off Defending Champs in OT, 88-84

Doylestown, PA (January 10, 2026) - The DeSales University men's basketball team earned a big road win knocking off the defending MAC Freedom Champion Delaware Valley University, 88-84, in OT on Saturday afternoon in MAC Freedom action.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 88, Delaware Valley - 84 (OT)
  • Records: DeSales (7-6, 2-0 MAC Freedom); Delaware Valley (7-6, 1-1 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs improve to 55-24 in the all-time series with the win.
How it Happened
  • Delaware Valley started quickly opening up a 9-2 lead in the first 3 1/2 minutes.
  • Trailing by seven a few minutes later, DSU used a 9-0 run to take a 14-12 lead after four points from sophomore Emanuel Domingo and five tallies from first-year Riley Buzby.
  • The rest of the half was back-and-forth with neither team leading by more than three points till a half court heave at the halftime buzzer by sophomore Jayden Thomas gave DSU a 41-37 halftime lead.
  • The Bulldogs scored the first six points of the second-half to take a nine-point lead 46-37.
  • The Aggies took control from that point using a 16-3 run to take a 53-49 lead at the 12:40 mark.
  • Del. Val. stretched that lead to nine at the 9:05 mark and still led by six with 7:22 to go.
  • DSU scored five straight points to get within one and still trailed by one at the under four media timeout (68-67).
  • Down four (74-70) with 1:05 remaining, first-year Theo Gladue hit a three-pointer and the Bulldogs got a stop on the defensive end.
  • Out of a timeout, Thomas scored in the lane with 13 seconds left and a three from the Aggies was off the mark.
  • First-year Sam Kahn hit 1-of-2 freebies to put DeSales up two with 2.0 seconds left.
  • After multiple timeouts, DSU was whistled for a foul on the inbounds and the Aggies hit both free throws to tie the game and force OT.
  • Buzby hit a three to open the extra period and the Bulldogs never trailed over the final five minutes.
  • Sophomore Luke Keppel hit 4-for-4 from the free throw line over the final 90 seconds and Thomas had a big open court lay-up to put away the road win.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Thomas put up another impressive stat line totaling 32 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
  • Buzby was big off the bench totaling 13 points and three helpers.
  • Domingo also had double digits with 11 points off the bench.
  • Keppel finished with 10 tallies.
For the Foes
  • Antonio Redding led all scorers with 33 points.
  • JT Wright added 12 points as did Kamal Johnson.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales shot 53.8 percent from the field for the game.
  • The Bulldogs got 36 points from their bench.
