Men's Basketball Win Streak Snapped at Four after Loss at Stevens

Hoboken, NJ (January 17, 2026) - The DeSales University men's basketball team saw its four-game win streak snapped after a 78-68 loss at Stevens in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Stevens - 78, DeSales - 68
  • Records: DeSales (8-7, 3-1 MAC Freedom); Stevens (8-7, 2-2 MAC Freedom)
  • DSU is now 11-5 all-time vs. Stevens.
How it Happened
  • A three-pointer from sophomore Robbie Ruisch early in the game gave DSU a 12-8 lead and the Bulldogs continued to lead by six nearly halfway thru the first-half.
  • A 13-2 Stevens run gave the hosts a 23-18 lead and the Ducks went into the halftime locker room with a 35-31 lead.
  • Buckets from Ruisch and sophomore Jayden Thomas to start the second-half tied the game at 35.
  • Stevens regained the lead and led by as many as seven points before a triple from first-year Riley Buzby tied the game at 54 with 10:20 left.
  • The Ducks answered that three froom Buzby with eight straight points and the Bulldogs never got any closer than six points the rest of the way to suffer its first MAC Freedom loss of the year.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Thomas was once again outstanding finishing with 29 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists.
  • Ruisch added nine points.
For the Foes
  • Stevens had five players in double digits including Brendan Coughlan with 19 points.
  • Kyle Maddison had 16 points and Hermehar Chhabra finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.
  • Tommy Scholl and Matt Leming each had 14 points.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales shot 40.6 percent from the field and the Ducks hit on 42.9 percent from the field.
  • The Bulldogs went to the free throw line just six times after entering the game ranked among the top 25 in the country in free throw attempts.
