LaVerghetta Leads Women's Basketball to 71-42 Win over FDU-Florham in Conference Opener

Center Valley, PA (Januay 7, 2026) - Sophomore Marissa LaVerghetta scored a career-high 15 points leading the DeSales University women's basketball team past FDU-Florham, 71-42, in the MAC Freedom opener for both teams on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

  • DeSales wins its 14th straight in the series with the Devils to improve to 48-16 all-time between the two teams.
How it Happened
  • Tied at four early, DeSales scored the final 13 points of the first quarter over the last 4:23 to lead 17-4 after one quarter of play.
  • Senior Mikaili Donmoyer started the run hitting two 3's and senior Mackenzie Gordos added a three late during the spurt.
  • It was an 11-point lead mid-way thru the second quarter when the Bulldogs scored 15 straight points to take a 38-12 lead and continued to lead by 16 at the break.
  • Donmoyer again started the run with a triple and senior Lindsay Bednarek had six points during the run.
  • The lead grew to as many as 34 points in the third quarter and was north of 26 points throughout the final quarter in the win.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • LaVerghetta had a career-high 15 tallies on 7-of-12 shooting, adding seven rebounds, six assists, five steals, and two blocks.
  • Sophomore Aubrey Pollard added 14 points and pulled down five boards.
  • Bednarek finished with 12 points and Donmoyer had nine points, six rebounds, three helpers, and four steals.
For the Foes
  • Bianca Sode led the Devils with 10 points and nine rebounds.
  • My'Shayla Clancy added six points, 10 rebounds, and four steals off the bench.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales shot 44.8 percent from the field and 44.4 percent (8-for-18) from outside the arc.
  • The Bulldogs held the Devils to just 28.6 percent from the field.
  • DSU forced 31 FDU turnovers, scoring 29 points off those turnovers.
