Quick Start Leads Women's Lacrosse to 9-5 Win in Season Opener

Center Valley, PA (February 13, 2026) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team got off to a quick start en route to a 9-5 win over McDaniel College in the 2026 season opener on Friday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 9, McDaniel - 5
  • Records: DeSales (1-0 overall); McDaniel (0-1 overall)
  • This was the Bulldogs first-ever meeting with the Green Terror.
How it Happened
  • DeSales got off to a quick start in this one scoring four goals in the first quarter and the first five goals of the game to take a 5-0 lead five minutes into the second quarter.
  • The lead grew to six at the half after a goal from first-year Olivia Costa with 42 seconds left in the second quarter.
  • The Bulldogs scored the first two goals of the second-half to take a commanding 9-2 lead and never looked back from there as the defense held the Green Terror at bay. 
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Costa led the scoring with four goals in her first collegiate game.
  • Senior Christina DiGuglielmo also had four points with two goals and two assists.
  • Senior Hailey Linebaugh added a goal and two assists, and seniors Bridey Lawler and Emma Williamson each scored once.
  • First-year Emily Mulroony had two assists and led the team with four draw controls.
  • Senior Danielle Sieja tied the school-record with four caused turnovers, giving her 68 in her career. She added six ground balls. 
  • First-year Larkin Trainor was outstanding in goal making 10 saves in her first career game.
For the Foes
  • Kat Thayer had two goals and an assist to lead the Green Terror.
  • Charlotte Alexander had a goal and four draw controls.
Inside the Box Score
  • McDaniel out-shot DeSales, 26-24, and had a 12-10 advantage in shots on goal.
  • The Bulldogs held a slim 20-19 advantage in ground balls.
  • The Green Terror won 9-of-14 draw controls.
