Thomas Scores 1,000th Point; Men's Basketball Clinches #3 Seed in 86-70 Win at Misericordia

Dallas, PA (February 21, 2026) - Sophomore Jayden Thomas became the first sophomore in team history to score 1,000 career points leading the DeSales University men's basketball team past Misericordia University, 86-70, to clinch the #3 seed in next week's MAC Freedom postseason tournament.

  • DeSales sweeps the season series with the Cougars and improve to 41-21 all-time vs. Misericordia.
  • DSU finishes tied for second in the MAC Freedom standings with Stevens and will be the #3 seed in next week's conference tournament.
  • The Bulldogs will travel to Stevens in the MAC Freedom semifinals on Wednesday with tip set for 7:00 pm.
  • Thomas becomes the first player to score 1,000 career points as a sophomore and is the 30th player to reach the milestone in team history.
How it Happened
  • The Cougars jumped out to a 10-2 lead in this one, extending that lead to 12 points (18-6) six minutes into the game.
  • Thomas and fellow sophomore Emanuel Domingo ignited a 27-3 run, scoring the first 10 points, to give the Bulldogs a 33-21 lead with three minutes left in the half, capped off by back-to-back 3's from sophomore Luke Keppel.
  • MU finished the half scoring five straight points to get within five (35-30) at the break.
  • It remained a five-point game four minutes into the second-half when the Bulldogs extended the margin up to 14 points with a 9-0 run at the 14:05 mark.
  • Misericordia chipped away and got within six at the 8:41 mark but the Bulldogs answered with a 7-2 run to take a 69-58 lead with 7:03 remaining.
  • The Cougars got within six one more time with 5:14 to go but senior Will Meeker hit a 3 out of a timeout to make it a nine-point game and the Bulldogs finished the game on a 12-3 run to ice the win including Thomas' 1,000th point at the 2:45 mark.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Thomas finished with 36 points, adding seven rebounds, and shooting 12-for-22 from the field.
  • Keppel added 20 points, hitting 4-for-5 from deep.
  • Domingo was excellent off the bench with 17 points, 7-for-9 from the field.
For the Foes
  • Matt Prociak had 25 points to lead the Cougars.
  • Jack Gallagher registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Eli Stoute had 11 points.
Inside the Box Score
  • DSU shot 52.6 percent from the field as compared to just 39.3 percent for the Cougars.
  • The Bulldogs were 8-for-15 from outside the arc.
  • DeSales out-rebounded MU, 40-30.
