Baseball Earns Split with Ursinus Winning Game Two, 13-9

Collegeville, PA (February 28, 2026) - The DeSales University baseball team earned a split in another non-conference doubleheader with Ursinus College, dropping game one, 9-2, before taking game two, 13-9, on Saturday afternoon at Perkiomen Valley HS.

Game One (L/2-9)
After the Bears scored twice in the first inning, DeSales got two in the fourth on a sacrifice bunt that scored two runs to tie the game at two.

It remained tied heading into the seventh inning when Ursinus exploded for seven runs and the Bulldogs were unable to cross home plate again in game one.

First-year Kevin Brace had two hits. Sophomore Danny Trentacosta had a strong outing on the mound tossing 2 2/3 hitless innings.

Game Two (W/13-9)
Once again Ursinus started strong scoring three times in the first inning but the Bulldogs rallied with four in the top of the second inning to take a 4-3 lead. Sophomore Aaron Schneider had an RBI double as part of the four-run second inning.

The Bears tied the game in the bottom of the third inning and that score remained into the fifth frame.

DeSales exploded offensively starting in the fifth scoring twice in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, and adding three runs in the eighth to pull away for the win.

Sophomore Jacob Rivera hit a two-run home run in the fifth, senior Owen Fischl had a two-RBI single in the sixth, RIvera had an RBI triple in the eighth, and junior Owen Yoder hit a solo home run also in the eighth.

Rivera finished the game with three hits, three runs scored, and three RBIs.  Yoder had two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, and Schneider and Fischl also both had two hits.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to action next weekend hosting Widener University on Friday, March 6th.
