Baseball Takes Two from Stevens to Open Conference Play

Port Charlotte, FL (March 14, 2026) - The DeSales University baseball team opened MAC Freedom play down south in Florida taking two games vs. Stevens on Saturday afternoon.

Game One (W/4-3 - 10 Innings)
This one started Friday, was halted because of rain in the bottom of the seventh inning, and finished today with the Bulldogs taking home a 4-3 win in 10 innings.

DeSales took a 1-0 lead on a stolen base and error in the first inning and went up 3-0 in the second on RBI double from sophomore Aaron Schneider and RBI single from graduate student Owen Fischl.

The Ducks tied the game with a run in the second and two more in the fourth as the game was halted with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Saturday morning, DSU got the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th on an RBI single from first-year Owen Yoder to take game one.

First-year Kevin Brace finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored.  Senior Andrew McGowan earned the win pitching 3 1/3 innings allowing just two hits and striking out one.

Game Two (W/12-1)
DeSales took a 1-0 lead on an RBI double from senior John Rorick in the second inning and the Ducks tied in the bottom of the third frame.

Rorick had another RBI single in the fourth inning and the Bulldogs broke it open with four runs in the both the fifth and sixth innings before posting the final tally with two more runs in the seventh.

Senior JT Anderosky was 3-for-4 with two run scored, while Fischl and Rorick each had two hits. Sophomore Kevin Eden earned the win with two scoreless innings, striking out three.

The Bulldogs return back home and are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday taking on Swarthmore College in a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
