Women's Lacrosse Downs Neumann, 16-15; Costa Contributes Eight Goals

ASTON, PA (March 21, 2026) -- The DeSales University women's lacrosse team downed the Neumann University Knights, 16-15, on Saturday afternoon. First-year Olivia Costa contributed eight goals for the Bulldogs.  

The Basics 

  • Final Score: DeSales – 16, Neumann – 15 

  • Records: DeSales (6-2 overall), Neumann (2-5 overall) 

  • This is the fifth time the Bulldogs and Knights have met, DeSales is now 4-1 against Neumann.  

How it Happened  

  • The Bulldogs went on a four-goal scoring streak to begin the game, first-year Costa contributed two, the other two were added by senior Danielle Sieja, and Christina DiGuglielmo.  

  • Bridey Lawler and Costa added one more each, ending the first period 6-2.  

  • During the second, Costa added three more and first-year Emily Mulroony added one to the board, finishing the second period 10-5.  

  • Coming out of the half Neumann added two goals, Lawler and Costa responded one goal apiece, ending the third 13-8.  

  • To begin the fourth the Knights went on a deep scoring run, adding four goals to the afternoon, Lawler, Costa and DiGuglielmo all responded with additional goals, to keep the Bulldogs up, ending the game 16-15.  

Top Bulldog Performers  

  • Mulroony led the team in points with nine from one goal and eight assists, tying the single game assist record. The first-year also contributed four draw controls to the afternoon. 

  • Costa led the team in goals, finishing with eight, just one short of the single game goal record, she also added one draw control to her impressive afternoon. 

  • Senior, Sieja added one goal, four ground balls, one cause turnover and one draw control to the game.  

  • First-year goalkeeper Larkin Trainor, had an excellent afternoon with 19 saves on the game, just one shy of the all-time single game save record.  

For the Foes  

  • Alena Catka led Neumann in points with nine, five goals and four assists.  

  • Krista Geibler had five cause turnovers, two ground balls and two goals. 

Inside the Box Score  

  • Neumann took the majority 20-15 on ground balls, but DeSales tool the 18-15 majority on draw controls.  

  • The 28-18 majority shots on goal went to the Knights, but DeSales took the majority in saves with 19-5.  

Up Next  

  • Women's lacrosse travels to Swarthmore College on Wednesday evening, in the last non-conference game of the season.
