Brianna Bauscher fired a 4-hit shutout in game two leading the DeSales University softball team to a split of a non-conference doubleheader with Kean University on Wednesday evening.
Game One (L/3-6)
Kean jumped out to a 5-0 lead in this one scoring twice in the third, twice in the fourth, and once in the fifth.
DSU got a run back in the sixth on a Cougar error and after trailing 6-1 put two more runs on the board in the seventh on a two-RBI triple from sophomore
Gianna Angermeier.
Angermeier finished the game going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Game Two (W/5-0)
Bauscher was terrific in game two allowing just four hits and one walk, while striking out eight to earn her third win of the season. It was the first complete-game for a Bulldogs pitcher this season.
DSU took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI triple from junior
Kiara Castera and bases loaded walk from first-year
Mary Kovaleski. The lead was stretched to 3-0 in the third inning after a hit by pitch with the bases loaded.
The Bulldogs added solo runs in the fifth and sixth on a sacrifice fly and RBI groundout to post the final tally.
DSU is back in action on Thursday traveling to Haverford College for another non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
