Softball Splits Two on Day Two of Spring Break Trip

Bartow, FL (March 9, 2026) - The DeSales University softball team split two games on day two of its spring break trip to Florida on Monday morning.

Game One (W/12-10)
After falling behind 2-0, DSU scored six times in the second inning to take a 6-2 lead.  First-year Emily Richards and junior Paige Hromin each had RBI hits as part of the six-run second inning.

Earlham reclaimed the lead with five runs in the fourth inning (7-6) but the Bulldogs wasted no time with three runs in the fifth to take a 9-7 lead. Sophomores Gianna Angermeier and Katie Sharkey each had RBI singles in the fifth.

EC got a run back in the bottom of the fifth and took a 10-9 lead in the sixth with two more runs.

DSU tied the game in the top of the seventh on an RBI single from senior Shana Gugliandolo and took a 12-10 lead in the top of the eighth on an RBI single from junior Abigayle Freideman.

Sophomore Ava DiDonato did the rest tossing a scoreless bottom of the eighth to earn her first win of the season allowing just one hit over three innings of work.

Angermeier, first-year Emily Richards, and Sharkey each had two hits. First-year Mary Kovaleski scored three times and Gugliandolo had three RBIs.

Game Two (L/3-7)
Ohio Wesleyan scored five times in the first and once in the second to take a 6-0 lead.

DSU got two runs in the third inning on a two-RBI double from Freideman but were unable to mount any other rallies to drop its second game of the day.

First-year Kora Rodichok and DiDonato each pitched well combinining for 4 2/3 innings allowing just one earned run.

The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow taking on Gordon College and Earlham College.
