Men's Lacrosse Defeats Lebanon Valley College, 12-8, In First MAC Freedom Competition of the Season

CENTER VALLEY, PA (April 1, 2026) -- The DeSales University men's lacrosse team downed Lebanon Valley College, 12-8, in the first MAC Freedom game of the season. Senior, Jake Hurd contributed four goals and one assist to the victory Wednesday evening.  

The Basics  

  • Final Score: DeSales – 12, Lebanon Valley College – 8  

  • Records: DeSales (4-7 overall, 1-0 MAC Freedom), Lebanon Valley College (7-3 overall, 0-1 MAC Freedom) 

  • The Bulldogs and the Flying Dutchmen have met up five times, with the first match up in 2010, DeSales has gone 4-1 overall against LVC. 

How it Happened  

  • DeSales was the first on the board with two unassisted goals, from Seniors, Hurd and Mark Winkler Jr. Lebanon Valley responded with two goals of their own to bring the score 2-2 half-way through the first.  

  • DeSales did not allow the tie during the first to last, with an additional three goals in the quarter two from first-year Colin Getz, assisted by Seth Young and Jason Reilly, and a second goal from Hurd. Giving the Bulldogs the 5-2 led to start the second quarter.  

  • Lebanon Valley struck back with a three-goal scoring streak, Hurd responded with another assisted by Young, with just 30 seconds on the clock, boosting the Bulldogs to 6-5 going into the half. 

  • Young and Getz struck first in the second half, adding two more to the board. The Bulldogs defense showed up, only allowing one in the third.  

  • Starting the fourth, the Flying Dutchmen added two goals, to tie the game 8-8 seven minutes into the quarter.  

  • DeSales responded with a four-goal streak, three of the four from Andrew Krieg and one from Hurd, securing the 12-8 victory for the Bulldogs.  

Top Bulldog Performers  

  • Hurd ended the evening with four goals and one assist for five points. He also contributed five ground balls and one cause turnovers.  

  • Senior Taylor Wikert ended the evening with six ground balls and two cause turnovers.  

  • Young lead the team in assists with three, he also added one goal, and one ground ball to the evening.  

  • Junior goalkeeper AJ Ardizone, played an excellent game, ending the evening with 13 saves.  

For the Foes  

  • Ryan Grace led the team in goals and points with three goals for three points.  

  • Connor Sample contributed three cause turnovers and one ground ball on the evening.  

Inside the Box Score  

  • DeSales ending the evening going 24-for-28 on the clear.  

  • The Bulldogs also took the majority of ground balls and face offs, with 39 and 16 respectively.  

Up Next  

  • DeSales will be heading to Wilkes-Barre, PA on April 8 to meet up with King's College in the second MAC Freedom competition of the season.
