Men's Lacrosse Downs King's College (Pa.) 13-3

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 8, 2026) -- The DeSales University men's lacrosse team down the King's College (Pa.) Monarchs, 13-3, in their second MAC Freedom game of the season.  

The Basics  

  • Final Score: DeSales – 13, King's College (Pa.) - 3  

  • Records: DeSales (5-7 overall, 2-0 MAC Freedom), King's College (Pa.) (3-7 overall, 0-2 MAC Freedom) 

  • DeSales has come out on top of the last nine match ups between the Bulldogs and the Monarchs.  

How it Happened  

  • The Bulldogs were on the board first, three minutes into the first quarter, with a goal from Blake Finnegan, assisted by TJ Kearns. Just three minutes later, Finnegan adds a second goal for the Bulldogs assisted by Senior Matt Costigan.  

  • DeSales then added two more goals to the first, ending the quarter 4-1. 

  • Four minutes into the second quarter, Joe Cieleski added a fifth for the Bulldogs on a man-down goal, assisted by Jake Hurd.  

  • The Monarchs added another, but Hurd quickly responded with a goal assisted by Kearns, with 1:39 left in the second, then with just 0:18 left in the first half, Hurd added another, assisted by Taylor Wikert.  

  • The Bulldogs defense had an incredibly strong showing, holding the Monarchs to just one goal per quarter, ending the half 7-2.  

  • DSU comes out of the half strong, Andrew Krieg capitalizes on a man-up opportunity and adds a goal 20 seconds into the quarter.  

  • DeSales adds four goals from Wikert, Costigan, Hurd, and Finnegan during the third quarter, ending the quarter 12-3. 

  • The Bulldogs defense held the monarchs scoreless through the entire fourth quarter, while adding one more man-up goal from Hurd to the board, ending the match up 13-3.  

Top Bulldog Performers  

  • Hurd led the team in points with six, from four goals and two assists, he also added two ground balls to the night.  

  • Kearns ended the evening with one goal and four assists for five points. He also contributed eight ground balls and two cause turnovers to the evening. 

  • Ryan Herman went 9-for-9 on the face off and contributed five ground balls for the Bulldogs.  

  • Wikert led the team in cause turnovers with four, he also contributed one goal and one assist for two points and three ground balls.  

  • Goalkeeper AJ Ardizone ended the evening with a .667 save percentage. 

For the Foes  

  • Goalkeeper Ryan Rickard ended the evening with 18 saves for a .581 save percentage on the evening.  

  • EJ Schreiner finished the evening with two points from one goal and one assist, he also contributed two ground balls and three cause turnovers for the Monarchs.  

Inside the Box Score  

  • DeSales went 15-for-19 on the face off, and 17-for-21 on the clear.  

  • The Bulldogs took the clear majority 54-20 on ground balls and 13-5 on cause turnovers.

  • The Bulldogs are traveling to Arcadia University, to take on the Knights in their third MAC Freedom game of the season on Saturday.
