Men's Lacrosse Downs Misericordia University, 11-5

DALLAS, PA (April 18, 2026) -- The DeSales University men's lacrosse team downed the Misericordia University Cougars 11-5, in MAC Freedom Action on Saturday afternoon.  

The Basics  

  • Final Score: DeSales – 11, Misericordia – 5 

  • Records: DeSales (7-8 overall, 4-1 MAC Freedom) Misericordia (8-6 overall, 2-3 MAC Freedom) 

  • This afternoon marks the fifth straight win for the Bulldogs in the match up with the Cougars. 

How it Happened  

  • Just a little over one minute into the game, Senior Mark Winkler Jr. Was the first on the board with an unassisted goal for the Bulldogs, two minutes after the first goal, Blake Finnegan adds a second, assisted by Colin Getz.  

  • With two minutes left in the first period, off of a cause turnover by Taylor Wikert, Getz is able to sneak a third in, assisted by Finnegan.  

  • Misericordia responds with a pair of goals with 30 seconds, and 13 seconds left in the first, ending the period, 3-2 DeSales.  

  • To open the second, the Bulldogs went on a scoring streak with three goals from Getz, Andrew Vogel and Chase Austin, before Misericordia responded with one of their own to shut down the streak.  

  • DeSales added another three before the end of the second from, Jason Reilly, Finnegan and one man-up goal from senior, Jake Hurd. The Cougars were the last on the board in the first half with one minute left to go, ending the second, and 9-4.  

  • The DeSales defense stayed strong during the third, only allowing one Misericordia goal in the beginning of the period, ending the third, 9-5.  

  • The Bulldogs added two more goals to end the game, the first, unassisted by Winkler Jr with just three minutes left to go, and the second by Griffin Adams, assisted by Andrew Krieg, man up with just one minute left in the match up, ending 11-5.  

Top Bulldog Performers  

  • Getz led the team in points with four from two goals and two assists, he also contributed two ground balls on the afternoon for the Bulldogs.  

  • Wikert led the team in both ground balls and caused turnovers with seven and three respectively.  

  • Liam Doyle added two ground balls and two cause turnovers for the Bulldogs defense.  

  • Winkler Jr. Added two goals and one assist for three points, to contribute to the DeSales victory.  

For the Foes  

  • Jason Giambrone led the Cougars in points with three from three goals, he also contributed two ground balls for MU.  

  • Rusty Carr ended the afternoon going 10-for-17 on the face off and added six ground balls.  

Inside the Box Score  

  • DeSales had a great afternoon on the clear, going 19-for-20 compared to the Cougars 19-for-22. 

  • The Bulldogs ended the afternoon with ten more ground balls than the Cougars (32-22) but Misericordia took the majority in the face off (11-9).
