Bauscher/DiDonato Leads Softball to Split with Eastern

Center Valley, PA (April 22, 2026) - The DeSales University softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Eastern University, winning game two, 4-2, on Wednesday evening at McGettigan Park.

Game One (L/1-4)
Eastern took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and made it 3-0 in the fifth before the Bulldogs got its lone run of the game in the sixth on an RBI single from senior Shana Gugliandolo in the sixth inning.

The Bulldogs had just three hits, two by Gugliandolo in the game one loss.

Junior Jackie Capers pitched well in the loss allowing just five hits over seven innings.

Game Two (W/4-2)
DeSales scored twice in the first and twice in the second innings of game two to claim a 4-0 lead.  Gugliandolo had a two-run single in the first inning and first-year Maddy Nagy hit a two-run single in the second inning.

First-year Brianna Bauscher and sophomore Ava DiDonato did the rest combining to allow just two runs over seven innings.  Bauscher earned the win with 4 1/3 innings allowing two runs, while DiDonato picked up her third save of the year with 2 2/3 scoreless allowing just two hits.

Senior Ava Goodman had two hits and scored once in the game two win.

The Bulldogs will wrap-up their season on Sunday (date change) hosting Lebanon Valley College in a MAC Freedom doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
