Men's Lacrosse Falls to #11 Stevens, Secures #2 Seed In MAC Freedom Playoffs

CENTER VALLEY, PA (April 25, 2026) -- The DeSales University men's lacrosse team, dropped their last regular season game to the #11 Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks, 20-7, Saturday afternoon. After the outcome of the MAC Freedom games this afternoon, the Bulldogs will be the number two seed heading into the MAC Freedom playoffs.  

The Basics  

  • Final Score: DeSales – 7, Stevens – 20 

  • Records: DeSales (8-9 overall, 5-2 MAC Freedom), Stevens (15-2 overall, 7-0 MAC Freedom) 

How it Happened  

  • The Ducks were the first on the board, with a man-up goal two minutes into the game, and added their second just three minutes after the first.  

  • DeSales responded just 45 seconds after the second Stevens goal, with an unassisted goal from first-year midfielder, Blake Finnegan.  

  • The Ducks snuck another one in, before Finnegan responded just thirty seconds later with a second unassisted goal on the afternoon, cutting Stevens lead to one.  

  • The last Bulldogs goal of the first, was scored by senior Jake Hurd and assisted by senior Joe Cieleski, ending the first 5-3.  

  • The second opened with two Ducks goals, before a turnover on the clear, caused by Cieleski, who was able to take the ground ball and capitalize adding another goal to the board for the Bulldogs.  

  • The DeSales defense stayed strong only allowing one more Duck goal before the end of the half, finishing the period, 8-4.  

  • DSU senior Mark Winkler Jr. Added another on a man-up unassisted goal just three minutes into the third period, before Stevens went on a two goal scoring streak.  

  • Sophomore defender, Marco De Bernardo responded with another goal assisted by TJ Kearns, before the Ducks scored another two of their own late in the third, ending the period 13-6.  

  • DeSales snuck in a final man-up goal, from Kearns in the last 30 seconds of the game, ending 20-7.  

Top Bulldog Performers 

  • Finnegan ended the afternoon with two goals for two points, Cieleski and Kearns also ended the afternoon with two points each from one goal and one assist.  

  • Defender, Taylor Wikert tallied four ground balls and two cause turnovers for the Bulldogs.  

  • Junior, goalkeeper AJ Ardizone finished with 24 saves for DeSales.  

  • Seniors, Hurd, Winkler Jr., Cieleski, Wikert, Nolan Chiulli, and Colin Spring, were all recognized for the large impact they have had on the program before the game.  

For the Foes  

  • Matthew Pergola led the Ducks in points with seven from one goal and six assists, he also added two ground balls to the afternoon.  

  • Bastian Chorazykiewicz went 21-for-24 on the face off, contributing 10 ground balls for the ducks.  

Inside the Box Score  

  • The Ducks out shot the Bulldogs with 44-14 shots on goal, but the Bulldogs ended the evening with the 24-7 majority in saves.  

Up Next  

  • The MAC Freedom post-season starts on Wednesday, when the Bulldogs host Arcadia University at 7:00pm.
