Center Valley, PA (April 9, 2026) - The DeSales University softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader with Rutgers-Camden by scores of 5-0 and 10-2 at McGettigan Park on Thursday afternoon.
Game One (W/5-0)
The Bulldogs scored once in the first, once in the third, and three times in the fifth to score its five runs.
JuniorÂ
Kiara Castera had a sacrifice fly in the first, juniorÂ
Abigayle Freideman had an RBI single in the third, Castera an RBI single in the fifth, and sophomoreÂ
Kylie Llewellyn a two-RBI single in the fifth.
SophomoreÂ
Gianna Angermeier finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Castera was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Three pitches combined to toss the four-hit shutout as juniorÂ
Jackie Capers earned the win pitching five strong innings, striking out three.
Game Two (W/10-2)
In the second game the Bulldogs scored four times in both the first and second innings to open up an 8-0 lead and cruised from there.
Freideman and juniorÂ
Paige Hromin had an RBI single and RBI triple in the first and first-yearÂ
Emily Richards hit a two-run home run, the first HR for the team this season.
In the fourth, Hromin had a two-RBI double and Angermeier knocked in two runs with a bloop double down the left field line.
Hromin finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Angermeier was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and seniorÂ
Ava Goodman had two hits.
First-yearÂ
Brianna Bauscher earned her sixth win of the season pitching a complete-game allowing just two runs over five innings, striking out four.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Misericordia University for a MAC Freedom doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
