Andrew Vogel of the DeSales University golf and men's lacrosse teams were honored on Tuesday afternoon being named to the CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team as announced by the College Sports Communicators.
Eligible nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games, must be a sophomore or higher, and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. The at-large team is made up of student-athletes across 15 sports including field hockey, lacrosse, and golf sponsored at DeSales. Each school can nominate a maximum of six student-athletes per gender.
McGinley, a Biology (pre-vet) major, earns the honor for the first time in his career. He appeared in 11 of DSU's 13 matches this past season ranking fourth on the team with a 83.25 scoring average including one Top 10 finish and a low round of 78.
Young, a Biology (pre-med) major, earns the honor for the second straight season. He finished the year appearing in all 18 games, making 16 starts and ranking fifth on the team in scoring with 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points.
Wikert, a sports management major, earns the honor for the second straight season. He earned All-MAC Freedom First-Team and All-ECAC First-Team honors. Wikert started all 18 games totaling three goals and three assists for six points, while also leading the team with 80 ground balls and 46 caused turnovers.
Vogel, a medical studies major, earns the honor for the first time. He appeared in 17-of-18 games totaling one goal and one assist as a defender. Vogel totaled 36 ground balls and had 12 caused turnovers.
