Women's Soccer Falls to the River Hawks in Saturday Afternoon Action

CENTER VALLEY, PA (Sept. 12, 2026) -- The DeSales University women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the Susquehanna University River Hawks in Saturday afternoon, non-conference action. 

The Basics  

  • Final Score – DeSales University: 0, Susquehanna University: 2 

  • Records – DeSales: 1-2-1, Susquehanna: 40-0 

  • The match up today marks the fourth meeting between the Bulldogs and the River Hawks. Before today, the record was at an even 1-1-1 for DeSales. The first competition between Susquehanna and DeSales was in 2023.  

How it Happened 

  • During the beginning of the first half, both teams were very evenly matched. The Bulldogs had a few breakaways and scoring opportunities but were unable to capitalize on them. DeSales defense really showed up, eliminating many scoring opportunities for the River Hawks.  

  • The first goal of the game was scored 36 minutes into the game, off of a Susquehanna corner kick.   

  • Just one minute into the second half, the River Hawks took advantage of a breakaway opportunity, goal keeper Campbell Pacheco met the ball to eliminate the scoring opportunity.  

  • With 41 minutes left in the game the River Hawks added another to the board.  

  • DeSales continued to show up with a strong offensive and defensive performance, but were unable to get one of their own in, ending the game 2-0.  

Top Bulldog Performers  

  • Junior goalkeeper Pacheco ended the afternoon action with eight saves.  

  • Caradyn McGinley, ended the afternoon leading the Bulldogs in shots with three over 82 minutes.  

For the Foes  

  • Ella Briggs and Amelia Kopp both had goals for the River Hawks.  

  • Goalkeeper Katie Henchy ended the afternoon with four saves.  

Up Next  

The Bulldogs travel to Haverford, PA on Wednesday to take on the Haverford College Black Squirrels. The Bulldogs are back in action at home on September 26th for the homecoming game versus Stockton University.
