McCurry Scores Twice in 4-0 Win over PSU-Berks; Win #250 for Crampton

CENTER VALLEY, PA (Sept. 16, 2026) -- Junior Mike McCurry scored two goals and had an assist leading the DeSales University men's soccer team past PSU-Berks, 4-0, giving head coach George Crampton his 250th career win in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Basics  

  • Final Score – DeSales University: 4, Penn State Berks: 0 
  • Records – DeSales: 4-1-0, Penn State Berks: 0-5-1
  • Coach Crampton gets win #250 to improve his all-time record to 250-216-45 (.533) as he is the all-time winningest coach in DeSales history.

How it Happened 

  • 16 minutes into the first half, DeSales, junior forward Mike McCurry, served the ball over to Osmar Ferre, who gained control of the ball, and sent it towards the upper right side of the net, right over the goal keepers head, adding one to the board for the Bulldogs. 

  • During the rest of the first half, DeSales played excellent defense keeping the Nittany Lions away from their goal, and maintaining control of the ball.  

  • The second DeSales goal came solely from McCurry, after he dodged around some defenders, drawing out the goalkeeper, and sending the ball to the opposite side of the net.  

  • Just two minutes later, the Bulldogs added their third to the board, off a throw-in, McCurry gained control of the ball, took it away from a PSU Berks defender right in-front of him, and then sent another to the left corner of the net.  

  • DeSales continued with the offensive pressure on the Nittany Lions, with ten minutes left in the game, the Bulldogs added their fourth and final goal, Liam Gardiner sent a header into the back of the net, assisted by Dave Kroon to end the game strong for the Bulldogs. 

Top Bulldog Performers  

  • McCurry ended the afternoon leading the Bulldogs in goals with two, and adding one assist to the afternoon tally. 

  • Foward, Landon Lentz ended the afternoon with four shots and two shots on goal for DeSales.  

For the foes  

  • Goalkeeper Josh Martin ended the afternoon with ten saves for the Nittany Lions.  

Inside the Box Score  

  • DeSales ended the first half with 19 shots, and the second half with 14 shots, for a total of 33 shots on the afternoon.
