Men's Soccer Falls to Eastern University

CENTER VALLEY, PA (Sept. 19, 2026) -- The DeSales University men's soccer team fell 3-1 to the Eastern University Eagles on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.  

The Basics  

  • Final Score – DeSales University: 1, Eastern University: 3  

  • Records – DeSales: 4-2, Eastern: 3-1-2 

This afternoon was the seventeenth match up between the Eagles and the Bulldogs. The first competition took place in 2007, and before today, the most recent match up took place in 2019. 

How it Happened  

DeSales was the first on the board, scoring their lone goal in the first three minutes of play. Junior forward Mike McCurry received the ball from junior JohnPaul Mazza, and found the back left corner of the net. Five minutes later, Eastern University added their first to the board to tie up the game. DeSales played excellent defense, ensuring that the ball wasn't spending too much time in front of the goal, for the rest of the first half. Four minutes into the second half, Eastern added a second. Both teams continued to play a physical game, and the Eagles scored a third with eight minutes left to play, ending the game 3-1.  

Top Bulldog Performers  

  • Foward Landon Lentz led the Bulldogs in shots with four for the afternoon. McCurry also tallies four shots, three shots on goal and one unassisted goal on the afternoon.  

  • Defender Nik Rohm and midfielder Jonathan Abboud both played a full 90 minutes for DeSales. Both athletes tallied two shots a piece for the Bulldogs.  

For the Foes  

  • Goalkeeper Michael Acuri had five saves on the afternoon.  

  • Zach Sievert tallied two of the Eagles goals and ended the afternoon with three shots.  

Inside the Box Score  

DeSales took the 22-8 shots majority and the slim 5-6 shot on goal majority over the competition. The Bulldogs also took the 6-3 majority on corner kicks, but the Eagles took the 20-10 foul majority on the afternoon.
