Men's Soccer Ends in a 1-1 Draw Against Drew University on Wednesday Evening

CENTER VALLEY, PA (Sept. 23, 2026) -- The DeSales University men's soccer team finished with a 1-1 draw against the Drew University Rangers in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.  

The Basics  

  • Final Score – DeSales University: 1, Drew University: 1  

  • Records – DeSales:  4-1-2, Drew: 3-2-2 

  • Tonight was the fourteenth match up between the Bulldogs and the Rangers. The first competition between the two teams took place in 2004, the most recent match up took place last season, in Madison, NJ. 

How it Happened  

  • The first half of the competition remained scoreless, with the Bulldogs having an excellent defensive presence. Six minutes into the first half of play, Drew had a scoring opportunity, off of a breakaway, that goalkeeper, Colin Hojnowski made the save to keep the action 0-0.  

  • The Bulldogs and the Rangers continued to battle back and forth for the rest of the half, but neither of the teams found the back of the net, keeping the game at an even 0-0 to end the first 45 minutes of play.  

  • Fifteen minutes into the second half, Drew took advantage of a corner kick, and Caleb Omisore got a foot on the ball to being the Rangers up 1-0. 

  • DeSales continued to play strong on both sides of the ball, and with seven minutes left, Mike McCurry drew a penalty kick, first-year Abu Barrie took the kick and, found the left back corner of the net, to tie the game 1-1.  

Top Bulldog Performers  

  • Junior goalkeeper, Hojnowski ended the evening with four saves for the Bulldogs.  

  • Junior forward, JohnPaul Mazza led the team in shots on goals with two and two total shots.  

For the Foes  

  • Goalkeeper Donovan Friedhoff ended the evening with five saves for the Rangers.  

Inside the Box Score  

  • DeSales took the 14-11 shot advantage and the slim 6-5 shot on goal advantage for the evening.  

  • Drew took the 7-4 majority of corner kicks on the evening.
