Women's Soccer Opens Season With 3-1 Victory Over Byrn Mawr

CENTER VALLEY, PA (Sept. 2, 2026) -- The DeSales University women's soccer team beat the Bryn Mawr College Owls, 3-1, in their season opener, at home on Wednesday afternoon.  

The Basics  

  • Final Score: DeSales University – 3, Bryn Mawr College – 1  

  • Records: DeSales – 1-0-0, Bryn Mawr – 0-1-0  

  • This is the first meeting between the Owls and the Bulldogs.  

How it Happened  

  • At the beginning of the first half, both teams play excellent defense, never allowing the opposing team to capitalize on any of the scoring opportunities that their opponent may have had.  

  • Right in the beginning of the second half, the Bulldogs were able to capitalize off of a free kick, senior, Catherine Crampton sent the ball over to first-year Kelsey Bedics, who targeted the left corner of the net, above the goalkeeper's head, for her first collegiate goal.  

  • The Bulldogs second goal of the evening came just 12 minutes later, after senior Kayla Heron gained control of the ball and sent it down the field to Bedics who broke away from the other defenders, drew the goalkeeper out, and sent the ball to the back left corner of the net.  

  • Bryn Mawr added one to the board off a corner kick, Meesha Akbar had the first touch on the ball, that goalkeeper Chloe Raby was able to save, but on the rebound, Akbar found the back of the net for the sole Owl goal of the game.  

  • The final DeSales goal of the game occurred with just 14 minutes left on the clock, first-year Tallia Hill cleared the ball away from Owl defenders and sent it down to Caradyn McGinley, who darted past the goalkeeper who left net, and secured her first collegiate goal.  

Top Bulldog Performers  

  • Bedics tallied three shots, two shots on goal and two goals in her first game for the Bulldogs.  

  • Senior defender, Kayla Kinniry played strong defense the whole game and ended with two total shots on the afternoon.  

For the Foes  

  • Akbar, led the team in three shots on goal and two shots for one goal on the afternoon.  

  • Goalkeeper Lily Blackman had seven saves on the afternoon for the Owls.  

Inside the Box Score 

  • DeSales took the 10-2 shot on goal advantage, and the 18-7 shot advantage on the afternoon.
