Mens Hoops tops Eastern Mennonite for Eighth Straight Win

Bridgewater, Va. (December 1, 2007) – Three players reached double figures and the DeSales University men's basketball team improved to 5-0 overall winning its eighth straight game, 63-56, over Eastern Mennonite University in the opening round of the Bridgewater College/Don Glick Invitational on Saturday evening.
 
        The Bulldogs have now won eight straight games dating back to last season when they finished the year with three consecutive wins. DSU trailed just once (3-2) in this game and led by as many as 11 points several times in the second half to record the win. Eastern Mennonite falls to 1-2 overall with the loss. DeSales shot 46.3 percent from the field and held a slim 43-39 advantage on the boards.
 
        Individually, senior Eddie Ohlson (Allentown, PA/Parkland) led the Bulldog attack with a team-high 15 points and dished out a game-high nine assists. Sophomore Darnell Braswell (Allentown, PA/William Allen) had 14 points and seven rebounds and senior Phil Stricker (Womelsdorf, PA/Conrad Weiser) totaled 12 points and eight rebounds.
 
        Junior Ed Lapinski (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) finished with six points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and sophomore Jim Malatesta (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) also scored six points.
 
        DeSales takes on host Bridgewater College in the second game of the Invitational on Sunday beginning at 4:00 pm.
