Balanced Attack leads Mens Hoops to Seventh Straight Win

Sophomore Darnell Braswell totaled a team-high 15 points in the win over FDU-Florham on Satruday afternoon.

Madison, NJ (January 12, 2008) – Four players reached double digits and the DeSales University men's basketball team shot 50.8 percent from the field en route to its seventh straight win, 73-60, over FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference action.
 
        The win improves DeSales to 12-1 overall and 2-0 in the Freedom, while the Devils fall to 1-13 overall and 0-1 in the Freedom. The Bulldogs out-rebounded FDU-Florham, 36-26, and forced 23 Devils turnovers in the win.
 
        After falling behind 3-0 early, DSU scored 12 straight points to lead by nine 4:30 into the game. The two teams went back-and-forth over the next 10 minutes before the Devils closed to within two points, 30-28, with eight straight points before the Bulldogs finished the half on an 8-3 run to lead by seven, 38-31, entering the locker room.
 
        Sophomore Darnell Braswell (Allentown, PA/William Allen) paced the Bulldog attack with 11 points as nine different players scored in the opening half.
 
        In the second half, DeSales led by nine, 56-47, at the 12-minute mark when the Bulldogs put the game away with an 11-1 run over the next five minutes to take a 67-48 lead with 7:13 to play. Five different players scored during the run.
 
        Braswell finished with a game-high 15 points and added five rebounds in the win. Senior Phil Stricker (Womelsdorf, PA/Conrad Weiser) added 13 points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and senior Eddie Ohlson (Allentown, PA/Parkland) netted 12 points and added six assists and three steals.
 
        Junior Matt Zwetolitz (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) totaled 10 points off the bench, while junior Ed Lapinski (Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) had nine points and seven rebounds and sophomore Jim Malatesta (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) totaled seven points, five rebounds and three steals in the win.
 
        Ryan McPherson finished with a game-high 24 points leading the Devils. Milton LaCroix added 15 points and Ricky Fetske finished with 10 tallies in the loss.
