#7 Bulldogs Crush Berkeley, 92-47, in Consolation Game

Reading, PA (November 21, 2009) – The 7th ranked DeSales University men's basketball team rebounded from its first loss of the season on Friday night with a 92-47 thumping of Berkeley College in the consolation game of the Albright College Tip-Off Tournament played at the Bollman Center at Albright College.

Leading 30-22 at the 4:50 mark of the first half, DSU went on an 18-2 run over the next four minutes to build a 24-point lead and never looked back in the second half when it took its largest lead of the game, 45 points, with the final score. The Bulldogs shot 68.0 percent from the field in the first half and 55.9 percent for the game. DeSales did turn the ball over an alarming 29 times but also held a huge advantage on the boards, out-rebounding Berkeley, 55-22, for the game.

Seniors Darnell Braswell (Allentown, PA/William Allen) and Rob Schubach (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) each had a team-high 15 points in the win. Braswell was the lone Bulldog named to the All-Tournament Team as he also dished out a game-high five assists on Saturday. Schubach shot 5-for-7 from three-point land and scored all his points in the first half.

Freshman Brett Moyer (Souderton, PA/Christopher Dock) added 14 points and pulled down a team-high seven boards off the bench, while senior Jim Malatesta (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) and sophomore Bob Zanneo (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) each had seven points in the win. Senior Charles Princiotto (Woodcliff Lake, NJ/Pascack Hills) had a good floor game with seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals, while freshman big men Sean McPaul (Jackson, NJ/St. Rose) and Greg Peters (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) combined for 12 points and 11 rebounds for DeSales.

DSU returns to action on Tuesday, November 24th when they host Moravian College in a non-conference game beginning at 8:00 pm. For those unable to attend you will be able to follow the game online via LIVE Stats or LIVE Audio on Tuesday night.
