Men’s Lacrosse Falls at Merchant Marine Academy, 16-8

Junior Kevin Walker had two goals and an assist in the loss at USMMA.

King's Point, NY (March 7, 2010) – Junior Whit Bruemmer (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) scored four goals and added one assist but it was not enough as the DeSales University men's lacrosse team fell in its second game of the year, 16-8, at US Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs (1-1 overall) trailed by just one goal after one period, but USMMA (2-0 overall) out-scored the Bulldogs, 10-1, over the second and third period to take a 13-3 lead into the fourth before the final score was posted.

Senior Kevin Walker (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) added two goals and an assist in the loss, won 11-of-26 face-offs, and picked up four ground balls in the loss. Senior Jarryd Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) and sophomore Michael Bassani (Califon, NY/Voorhees) each had a goal, while Bassani added two assists and sophomore Ryan Olah (Columbia, NJ/North Warren Regional) also had an assist. Senior Dan Quinn (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) picked up a team-high nine ground balls and freshman Jacob Nyenhuis (Ada, MI/Forest Hills Eastern) had five saves in goal.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, March 10th when they travel to Virginia Wesleyan College for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
