Bulldogs Blanked at Virginia Wesleyan, 10-0

Virginia Beach, VA (March 9, 2011) – The DeSales University men's lacrosse team dropped its third straight game to open the 2011 season, falling at Virginia Wesleyan College, 10-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening under the lights.

The Bulldogs (0-3 overall) are shut out for just the second time in school history, with the last coming in April of the 2000 season vs. The University of Scranton, a 7-0 decision.

DSU had another strong defensive outing as it has not allowed more than 10 goals in any of its three losses this year. Senior Justin Campanelli recorded 18 saves and now has a .622 save percentage on the season, while senior Donald Clemens and sophomore Brennan Gmeiner each had three ground balls. Gmeiner also won 10-of-14 face-offs and has now won 17-of-26 on the season for the Bulldogs.

DeSales gets 10 days off now and will return to action on Saturday, March 19th when they travel to Marymount University for another non-conference game beginning at 8:00 pm.
