Center Valley, PA (January 4, 2012) – Four players reached double figures and all 16 players in uniform saw action as the DeSales University men's basketball team rebounded from a last night, rolling past SUNY-Potsdam, 74-52, in the consolation game of the Red Robin Holiday Tournament in Billera Hall on Wednesday night.

Sophomore Kyle Hash was one of the four players in double digits with a career-high 15 points, bettering his career-high from in last night's loss by one point.  Junior Brett Moyer led all scorers with 17 points, freshman Jake Hungarter responded to his first career start with a season-high 14 points, and senior Bob Zanneo came off the bench to score 11 points.

Potsdam (4-7) got 11 points from Zac Adams as the lone double digit scorer for the Bears in the loss.  Tony Efese and Brad Drysdale each had nine points.

DeSales (5-6) never trailed and the game was tied only once (4-4) before eight straight points, including three's from freshman Ryan Griffin and Hungarter, made it 12-4 four minutes into the game.  Potsdam got within five twice but never any closer as a 12-0 run near the end of the half extended a six point lead into an 18-point advantage before DSU took a 37-20 lead into the locker room.

The second half was all Bulldogs as the lead quickly grew to 25 points just 3:17 into the second half and the Bears had no answer.

DSU shot 44.9 percent from the field for the game and committed just nine turnovers, while forcing Potsdam into 21 miscues, leading to 30 Bulldog points.

In the Red Robin Holiday Tournament championship game, Alvernia University (8-3) overcame a seven-point halftime deficit and turned up the defensive dial in the second half, forcing hot shooting Berkeley College (NY) (8-5) into just 30.8 percent shooting in the second half after the Knights torched the nets at a 54.5 percent clip in the first twenty minutes.

A 9-2 run out of the gates in the second half quickly tied the game and AU eventually extended its lead to as many as 13 points (63-50) after a 14-1 run over a span of 6:26 mid-way thru the half.  BC chipped away at the lead and was within two points with 8.7 seconds left but Cory Boone knocked down two free throws with seven seconds left to seal the win for the Crusaders.

Boone finished with 17 points and was named to the All-Tournament team along with freshman and tournament Most Valuable Player, Terrence Bridgers, who hit for 19 points, 13 in the second half on Wednesday for Alvernia.  Stefan Thompson added 12 points and Brian Nerney totaled 13 points and eight rebounds.

Berkeley got 16 points from Jose Stable and 17 points from Kaseem Williams as they each earned All-Tournament honors.  Elijah Craig finished with 11 points and 14 boards and Jovan Bovell totaled 12 points and six assists for the Knights.

DeSales will return to action on Saturday when they host Widener University in a non-conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
