Box Score
Bethlehem, PA (November 20, 2012) – The DeSales University men's basketball team shot 26.8 percent from the field in the second-half and overtime spoiling a nine-point second-half lead as the Bulldogs fell, 68-66, in overtime to local rival Moravian College on Tuesday evening in Johnston Hall.

Senior Brett Moyer was outstanding and a lone bright spot in the loss, setting a new career-high with 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.  Moyer also pulled down a team-high eight boards.  Fellow senior Brian Kerwin also contributed with eight points off the bench in just 11 minutes of action.

Moravian had a balanced attack with four players reaching double digits including Garrett Johnson with 16 points, DJ Strayhorn with 13 points, and Kenny Gula and Blake English with 12 points each.

A tie game at 30 with 1:33 left in the first half saw sophomore Michael Guldin can a three from the right corner and Moyer score at the halftime buzzer as the Bulldogs raced into the locker room with a five-point edge, 35-30, at the break.  DSU torched the nets in the first-half, shooting 54.5 percent from the field and made five treys on 10 attempts.

The second-half started out similarly as the Bulldogs extended its lead to nine points, 43-34, at the 14:54 mark on consecutive lay-ups from Moyer but then DSU went cold.

The Bulldogs missed its next five shots over a span of five minutes as Moravian chipped away at the lead using an 11-3 run to trail by just one point (46-45) at the 10:40 mark.

A jumper from junior Paul Pammer and a three from junior Kyle Hash pushed DSU's advantage back up to six points with 8:34 remaining.  The lead was still five points (54-49) with 3:48 to go when Strayhorn hit back-to-back three-pointers around a Bulldog turnover to take a 55-54 lead with 3:03 left.

The two teams exchanged baskets over the next 2:30 with the Greyhounds clinging to a two-point advantage with 23 seconds left.  DSU worked the ball around on the offensive end and Guldin missed an off-balance lay-up but Moyer grabbed the rebound and the Bulldogs called timeout with 5.1 ticks left.  On the inbounds, Pammer drove the lane and hit an off-balance lay-up to tie the game as a Greyhound halfcourt heave was off the mark sending the game into overtime.

Moravian scored the first four points of the overtime period before Moyer knocked down two free throws and converted a lay-up with 55 seconds left to tie the game at 64.  A Strayhorn miss on the other end gave DSU the ball with 46 seconds left and a chance to take the lead but a jumper from junior Mike Coleman was off the mark and in transition Gula drove the lane and hit a reverse lay-up to make it 66-64 Moravian with seven seconds left.

Needing to go the length of the court, Coleman quickly pushed the ball out of a timeout, drove the lane and kicked the ball to a wide open Cody Deal on the left baseline who let go on a game-winning three-point attempt, but his attempt hit front iron and bounced over the rim as time expired giving the Greyhounds the win.

DSU did an excellent job of taking care of the ball, committing just 12 turnovers for the game and out-rebounded the Hounds, 38-37, for the game.

DeSales returns to action on Monday, November 26th when they travel to PSU-Berks for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
