Mike Coleman scored a game-high 23 points and senior
Brett Moyer was a rebound shy of second straight double-double leading the DeSales University men's basketball team past FDU-Florham, 82-71, in the Freedom Conference season opener for both teams on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.
Moyer finished with 15 points and nine boards and Coleman scored his 23 on the strength of five treys to lead the way. Junior

Ryan Griffin also reached double digits with 10 points and senior
Greg Peters contributed off the bench with a game-high tying nine rebounds.
Mike Williamson led the Devils with 16 points,
Trevor Sykes added 15 points, and
Derek Hall had 11 points in just 18 minutes before fouling out for FDU-Florham (0-3, 0-1 Freedom).
FDU was within one point of the Bulldogs (3-2, 1-0 Freedom) at the 13:06 mark after a three from Sykes but a 17-5 run by DSU over the next eight minutes pushed the lead to 13 points led by seven points from Coleman. The advantage grew to as many as 17 points at the halftime buzzer after another Coleman three from well behind the arc as time expired on the first-half.
DSU shot 61.5 percent in the opening half and dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Devils 20-11.
The Bulldogs stayed in control at the start of the half taking a 22-point lead, 69-47, on a three from freshman
Cody Deal before the Devils emptied its bench with the second team.
FDU's reserves showed no quit using a 13-1 run over the next 4:29 to cut the lead down to 10 points, 70-60, forcing a Bulldog timeout. Florham eventually got within nine points on two different occasions but never any closer as the lead to 15 with 41 seconds left before the final margin was posted.
After torching the nets in the first-half, DeSales went cold in the second-half shooting just 36.0 percent, but finished the game shooting 49.0 percent and 11-for-22 from outside the arc. The Bulldogs also dominated the glass, out-rebounding FDU, 43-32.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they travel to Wilkes University in another Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
